QUEZON CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority – National capital Region (TESDA-NCR) successfully concluded the 2021 Quezon City District Skills Competition through the awarding and closing ceremony held at Quezon City Lingkod Bayan Skills Development Center, October 22, 2021.
This year’s gold medalist were Kenneth Silveste (Electrical Installation), John Lerry Jacob and Aliah Nolasco (Industrial Automation), Jhonel Pedrigoza (Welding), Mark Lopez (Mechanical Engineering CAD) and Dennis Espinilla (Information and Cabling Network).
Meanwhile, the silver medalists were Angelica Joy Esteban (Mechanical Engineering CAD) and Raine Leonard Caacbay (Information and Cabling Network).
In his message during the closing program, Director Florencio F. Sunico Jr., Regional Director and the Pillar of TESDA NCR, congratulated all the competitors and awardees, as well as the organizers and sponsors of the said event.
“I want to thank all the awardees, organizers and sponsors of the QC District Skills Competition. Thank you for the brilliant minds and hard work of our participants, who competed based on the standard excellence of the World Skills,” Director Sunico said in his virtual message via Zoom.
Director Sunico also extended the agency’s gratitude to Hytec Power, Inc., through Eric Jude S. Soliman, President and CEO for their assistance to the success of the event. He was awarded with a certificate of appreciation for their all-out support to the event. It was noted that the opening program of the skills competition was held last October 19 at the training hub of Hytec Power.
Director Mariflor R. Liwanag, TESDA QC District Director highlighted that through skills competitions, TESDA is giving the competitors not only the chance to showcase their skills but more importantly, they are given an opportunity to meet world-class standards.
“Champions are made to last. This competition is made to test your stamina, your patience, skills honing. This is also an investment for you. Grab this opportunity to become a better version of yourself. We believe in you, and tuloy tuloy lang ang pag pa-practise at sabay sabay tayo to go and get the golds in international skills competition,” Director Liwanag challenged the competitors.
The event was attended by some 40 participants including competitors, coaches, experts, judges and officials. Hytec Power was able to contribute to the realization of the objectives of the skills competition through the technical specialist managers who acted as judges. They were Prof. Edmund V. Guzman and Mr. Charles Angelo Duran (Industrial Automation), Prof. Eleonor Rodriguez and Mr. Raniel Abcede Information Network Cabling), Engr. Joyce Allan Guingab and Engr. Greg Paredes (Electrical Installation), and Mr. Rhessan Jan Mamoransing (Welding).
The Regional Skills Competition is expected to take place on November 8-15, 2021.
